There is very little chance this would work in Ireland as trying to drive onto a pitch would be nigh on impossible.
And thankfully our cold snap has passed by without too much of an impact on sporting fixtures.
But things are feeling a little bit chilly in the seaside town of Bognor Regis ahead of their clash with Altrincham Town tonight.
The two sides were due to clash in the FA Trophy 2nd Round game at Nyewood Lane but the game almost didn’t go ahead due to a frozen pitch.
Thankfully, the ground was hard enough to put in place a unique, and risky way to defrost an area that was fairly icy.
Potential issue here at Bognor with part of the pitch frozen. 6 cars are currently trying to thaw out the surface. pic.twitter.com/umOB574pVe

Note the distinct lack of Nissan Micras or any one litre engines used to generate enough heat to try and defrost the pitch.

Unconventional and all as it was, it worked, and the game did go ahead.
And the club clearly showed some good humour by offering ice-cream for sale too.
