Nobody enjoyed Manchester United’s defeat to PSG more than Mario Balotelli

Balotelli woke up early to delete the social media posts

Mario Balotelli still gets a kick out of Manchester United’s shortcomings.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool forward has had little to celebrate in recent months due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stunning start to life in the Old Trafford dugout but Balotelli certainly enjoyed the Norwegian’s first loss as United caretaker manager.

On Tuesday night, United fell to a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the opening leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie and Balotelli expressed his delight at the result on social media.

First Balotelli laughed at a spell of PSG possession in the final few minutes of the game as he captioned the footage “MAN UTD OOOOOLÈ” alongside a blushing emoji.

Then the Italian striker enjoyed the fact that fans of his former club, City, would go to sleep happy.

Balotelli, who is now plying his trade at Marseille, then clarified that he wasn’t so much celebrating PSG’s joy as he was relishing in United’s misery.

While many believe the tie is done and dusted, Solskjaer insisted that “mountains are there to be climbed” in his assessment of Tuesday night’s game.

“There is a determination in the dressing room to put this right,” Solskjaer said in anticipation of the away leg.

“We will give it a go. If we get to half-time with a one-goal lead, that is what we have to aim for.”
