No, Alex Manninger is not retiring. He’s about to sign for Liverpool

The average age of the Liverpool squad is about to increase.

Veteran goalkeeper Alex Manninger, who has been training with the Reds since being released by Augburg last month, is set to be unveiled as Jurgen Klopp’s next signing.

You may remember Manninger from his years at Arsenal, when he performed admirably whenever David Seaman was injured.

And he’ll be ready to do just that if Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius pick up knocks in the coming season as the Liverpool Echo report that Klopp is about to secure the 39-year-old on a one-year deal.

The former Austria international is in the United States with the Liverpool squad and could well play a part in the upcoming preseason friendlies against Chelsea, AC Milan and Roma.
