Motherwell brilliantly take the Mickey out of Manchester United’s transfer announcement

Alexis who?

Sen-SATIONAL.

Hats off to Motherwell for their downright incredible announcement that their popular on-loan defender Peter Hartley had become a permanent fixture at Fir Park.

After joining on loan from Blackpool in the summer, Hartley quickly endeared himself to the Scottish Premiership side’s fans and, on Tuesday, he signed a permanent deal with Motherwell.

The centre-half is now contracted to Well until 2020 and the club revealed the news via Twitter in spectacular style as they borrowed a theme from Manchester United.

United unveiled Alexis Sanchez as the newest member of their squad on Monday via a dramatic video in which the Chile international tickled the keys of a piano before a rousing rendition of Glory Glory Man United rang out as he tried on the No. 7 jersey and took to the Old Trafford pitch.

Hartley’s piss-takey tribute to Sanchez’s gravitas-heavy reveal makes it one of our favourite player announcements of all time. Check it out below.

“It was a very, very easy decision to make,” Hartley said of his new contract. “I’ve been at this club for six months and it’s a fantastic dressing room, probably one of the best I’ve been in.

“It’s a club that’s trying to move forward and achieve things. I want to be part of that.”
