Every kid in the land has their favourite footballer – the one they pretend to be when playing in the playground after school.
And it seems even hardened professionals who have won everything there is to win in the club game still can’t help trying to emulate their heroes in training.
Here is modesty’s John Terry hooking one into the net during training – a clip the Chelsea captain posted to Instagram with the accompanying hashtag #VanBasten.
Blues skipper JT is of course referencing the superb volley that Dutch master Marco van Basten scored against the Soviet Union in the final of Euro 88 – universally acclaimed as one of the greatest goals ever scored at the Euros.
