Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has said that Liverpool centre-backs Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk can form one of the all-time great defensive partnerships.
Liverpool have conceded just four goals through 10 games this season with Gomez and van Dijk claiming five clean sheets each.
The Reds trail only Manchester City for the best defence in the league but Keown believes that the Liverpool duo can go on to form an all-time partnership should they both stay healthy.

“It’s already a phenomenal partnership,” the former England international said on BT Sport.
“It could be one of the all-time great Premier League centre-half partnerships. They are that good – they’ve got everything in their locker.”
Meanwhile former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand added that Gomez and van Dijk will be an integral part of any Liverpool title challenge and that both players are in the conversation of the top five defenders in the league.
“That defensive triangle is massive for Liverpool in terms of winning trophies going forward.
“Van Dijk and Gomes have tremendous recovery pace and positional sense – and they’re only going to get better.
“Van Dijk especially is at the stage of his career where he needs trophies.
“For me, Gomes and him are two of the top five defenders in the league.”
