Leicester City’s unlikely success means Mark Schwarzer has become the first player to win two Premier League titles in successive seasons with different clubs.

Cynics might point out that the Australian international didn’t make a single appearance for Chelsea last season before moving to the King Power Stadium.

They might also mentioned that his only games for the Foxes this season have come in cup competitions.

But we imagine the 43-year-old won’t mind too much.

Schwarzer, and his team-mate Robert Huth, are the seventh and eighth players to be part of Premier League winning squads for two different teams. Huth also won the title at Chelsea.

But Schwarzer is the first to do so in successive years.

The other six are:

Nicolas Anelka (Arsenal, Chelsea)

Henning Berg (Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United)

Gael Clichy (Arsenal, Manchester City)

Ashley Cole (Arsenal, Chelsea)

Carlos Tevez (Manchester United, Manchester City)

Kolo Toure (Arsenal, Manchester City)

At the age of 43, Schwarzer may opt to hang up his gloves this summer, but we’ve started wondering whether any clubs might be tempted to bring him in as a lucky charm.

After all, it’s been a while since Liverpool won the league – surely they’ll try anything at this stage.
