Could he be the alternative to Nabil Fekir?

Nabil Fekir’s transfer to Liverpool fell through at the last minute after scans from his medical revealed a problem with his knee that rang alarm bells for Liverpool, who then pulled out of the deal.

Assuming Liverpool are still in the market for a number 10, they could sign Mario Götze, who recently spoke about his desire to reunite with Jürgen Klopp. The pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund and won two Bundesliga titles together.

Since then, Götze has gone to Bayern Munich and returned to Dortmund. His form has taken a nosedive over the past couple of seasons, as he has struggled with a metabolic illness, but the talent is still there. And there is nobody better to help him channel it than Klopp.

On a DAZN documentary, ‘Being Mario Götze’, the playmaker said: “I decided to leave Bayern and Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool. And I was also interested in working with him again.

“It’s still existing. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option. I decided to join Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Klopp. But on the contrary.”
