Straight from the horse’s mouth…or the horse’s agent at least.
Manchester United have waited until the final day of the transfer window to scramble about for a full-back. There have already been stories of both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur rebuffing Old Trafford advances for their reserves.
Whether either of those rumours are true is open to debate, but it seems that they are looking to sign a defender before 11pm – according to the player’s own agent.Omar Elabdellaoui is a 24-year-old Norwegian right-back who was formerly at Man City’s academy, but failed to make the grade at the Etihad.
The player now plies his trade at Olympiakos in Greece’s Superleague, and his agent Jim Solbakken has confirmed that United are trying to finalise a deal before Monday’s 11pm deadline.
“The interest of Manchester United is in place,” said Solbakken. “We will see what happens during the night.”
It may not fill United fans with unbridled ecstasy, but a signing is a signing.
