Manchester United quoted monstrous fee for second-choice Juventus defender

If you want to get quality, you have to pay for it.

Manchester United have the shopping list out once again, ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window in just over two months time.

The club is likely to look to bolster all areas of their team, and a key concern for current boss Louis van Gaal is his back four.

David de Gea has saved the club’s blushes on more than one occasion this term with his spectacular saves, but a Juventus defender may be about to make him a little less overworked.

The club is understood to be tracking the current situation of Alex Sandro, but Juventus have slapped a monstrous valuation on his talents.

According to the Daily Express, the Serie A champions are looking to squeeze £40million out of Old Trafford in any possible transfer, which is only his release clause.

His WhoScored.com stats suggest he’s done well in a season when he has had to battle Patrice Evra for a spot in the Juventus team.

The Brazil international is understood to be lined up as a possible future long-term left-back at Old Trafford and may also be expected to play at centre-half.

However with Luke Shaw returning to full fitness, and the outrageous price tag for a player Juve only bought for £20million last summer from Porto, we’d imagine Ed Woodward will be keeping his chequebook in his pocket for a while yet.
