Manchester United player ratings vs CSKA Moscow

Stalemate

Simon Lloyd

Manchester United fought hard for a point in Moscow, with Anthony Martial’s header cancelling out CSKA’s earlier goal. Here’s how the United players fared.

David De Gea – 7

Unlucky with the penalty incident, and made some vital saves in the first-half.

Antonio Valencia – 5

He is simply not a right-back and it shows. Did his best as per usual.

Chris Smalling – 7

Composed throughout. Another accomplished display.

Phil Jones – 4

Caught napping when the penalty was missed, was generally clumsy and chaotic.

Marcos Rojo – 4

Shaky return to Moscow. Looked vulnerable throughout the first half, rightly replaced by Blind.

Anthony Martial – 6

Gave away penalty with senseless handball, redeemed with equaliser. Flashes of class.

Jesse Lingard – 7

Nothing spectacular but full of energy. Didn’t look out of place in an unexpected start.

Ander Herrera – 6

Nowhere near as infuential as at Goodison Park.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – 6

Replaced at half-time. Had little impact on the game.

Morgan Schneiderlin – 8

Very calming presence. One of United’s better performers.

Wayne Rooney – 5

Struggled to make an impact on the game again, although received little in the way of service.

Subs

Marouanne Fellaini – 6

His physical presence seemed to unsettle CSKA and he made a difference

Daley Blind – 6

An improvement on Marcos Rojo, not that that was too difficult.

Memphis Depay – n/a

Too late to be given a rating.
