He’ll cost them a fair whack.
Manchester United’s upturn in form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over has papered over some deep cracks in the squad. While they remain undefeated in domestic competition under the Norwegian’s management, there are still big changes that need to be made in the summer. One of those changes is the arrival of a natural right winger.
While Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata can all do a job on the right, all three are best suited to a central role. United recognise this, and have identified English sensation Jadon Sancho as their first choice candidate.
The Mirror are reporting that securing Champions League football could be a decisive factor in whether or not United sign the youngster.
Sancho took a huge risk by leaving Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund at the age of 17 in search of first-team opportunities, but it has paid dividends. After performing well in the Bundesliga, he has taken Christian Pulisic’s place in Lucien Favre’s starting XI and earned himself an England call-up.
Still a teenager, Sancho is one of the most highly rated young players in the world, and will consequently cost United at least £100m, according to reports.
Dortmund insists that he’s not for sale at any price, but money talks. A £100m fee would give Dortmund a huge profit having paid just £8m for him, and in the current climate of hyperinflation, it seems like a very reasonable price.
Manchester City would also benefit, having agreed a 15% sell-on fee with Dortmund.
