A potential headache.
There could be no available date for Manchester United’s FA Cup sixth-round replay against West Ham United.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Old Trafford, and instead of going to extra-time and penalties to decide a winner, the two sides will play again at Upton Park.
However, if Louis van Gaal’s side were to overcome Liverpool on Thursday in the Europa League last 16 second leg, organising the FA Cup replay could become a logistical headache.According to BBC reporter Simon Stone:
There is a problem already as the first two free midweek dates are ruled out due to the international break. The next two are reserved for Uefa competition.
There is a financial penalty if domestic matches are arranged during this time but with the week before the semi-finals on 23 and 24 April too close logistically, some kind of European clash looks inevitable even without the major added complication of Louis van Gaal’s side still being involved in the Europa League.
However, as they trail Liverpool 2-0 from the first-leg, United’s Europa League campaign looks set to come to a conclusion on Thursday, unless they can stage a stunning comeback.
