Big dreams
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has revealed the three big names he wanted to bring to Manchester United if his takeover bid went through.
On Saturday, the Qatari businessman pulled out of the running after the Glazer family rejected his offer of more than £6bn in total to purchase a 100 per cent stake in the club.
As a result, Sheikh Jassim pulled out of the deal, leaving Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the only contender left as he looks to complete a deal which will give him a 25 per cent stake in the club in what is reportedly being viewed as a staged takeover that will eventually see him become majority owner of United.
Had Sheikh Jassim’s bid been successful there were promises to invest heavily in the playing squad as well as developing the facilities, which included an Old Trafford rebuild, as well as clearing the club’s debt.
Sheikh Jassim on his United wishlist
Fans were also given an insight into what sort of players United would’ve been able to attract had Sheikh Jassim’s bid been successful.
According to BILD, the Qatari businessman wanted to bring Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga and Kingsley Coman to Old Trafford.
Mbappe’s contract with Paris-Saint Germain expires at the end of the season but the forward is widely expected to join Real Madrid in the summer.
Camavinga and Coman both have contracts at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich that run out in 2027 but with both key members of their respective side’s first team, United would’ve had to come in with lucrative offers for the pair.
