There’s little indication that Manuel Pellegrini will be sacked as Manchester City manager, yet a week has barely passed by since the season began without Pep Guardiola’s name being linked with his job.
The Bayern boss has been tipped by many to leave the German giants this summer with the Premier League deemed his most likely destination.
City appear to have been viewed by many as the frontrunners to land Pep, but the recent woes at Stamford Bridge have also seen him named as a potential candidate to replace Jose Mourinho. It would be unfair to mention Guardiola and Manchester United while we were at it.
But it now appears Guardiola might well be staying put in Bavaria for a while longer.
According to a report in the Mirror, Guardiola is set to be offered a staggering deal to stay at the Allianz Arena which would see him take home £17m per year.
With the report claiming that Roman Abramovichis interested in landing the ex-Barcelona manager, it’s believed that Bayern have brought forward contract discussions in a bid to fend off interest from Chelsea.
There is a potential stumbling block in the talks, however, with Bayern wanting Guardiola to commit to a two-year deal.
Guardiola, well aware that a one year deal would keep his options open, does not appear as keen.
