Enrique is one of the frontrunners to land the job permanently
Luis Enrique has reportedly been left ‘disappointed’ by Chelsea’s decision to reappoint Frank Lampard until the end of the season.
Lampard was appointed as a caretaker boss until the end of the season, replacing Graham Potter who was sacked earlier this month.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly made the decision as he looks to find a more suitable, long-term option for the Blues going into the new season.
Enrique is one of the names being touted for the job alongside Julien Nagelsmann, however the former Barcelona and Spain boss isn’t happy with the club’s recent decision.
Spanish outlet AS have reported that Enrique expressed his desire to take over the managerial duties at Stamford Bridge straightaway.
The 52-year-old reportedly held talks with the club over video call again this week and is expected to fly into London to continue those amid hopes that he could end the two-time European champions’ search for a new manager.
It’s been a dismal season for Chelsea this campaign as they find themselves 11th in the table and winless in their last four games following a 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

Boehly felt the heat of the fans during the loss, with pictures showing him being involved in a heated discussion with a number of supporters.
They face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night, which they currently trail by two goals.
