We suspect that something may have been lost in translation.
That, or former Italy striker Luca Toni’s geogrpahy is all over the place.
The Verona striker once worked with the current Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal in Germany when LvG was coach of Bayern Munich.
Things didn’t end so well for Toni who quit the club after a fallout with the Dutchman in the latter end of 2009 as the club terminated his contract a year later after a loan spell at Roma.
Various reports suggest that LvG is not a popular figure among the players at Old Trafford, as he tries to instill his ‘unique’ brand of discipline at Old Trafford.
And now the ex-Italy striker has revealed that the Dutchman seemingly is hell bent against a certain section of foreign players too.
In an interview in today’s Corriere Dello Sport, Toni claims LvG bombed him out of Munich, which we already suspected, and that he also doesn’t like players from Italy.
Luca Toni: "Van Gaal hates Latin players. At Bayern he looked for any chance to fight with me, Ribery and Lucio because fans loved us"

Luca #Toni has told @CorSport that #LVG dislikes players from Latin countries & forced him out of #FCBayern

Latin countries can also refer to players from South America, which we suspect Toni is referring to here by linking Lucio into the debate.
It seems a bit odd considering van Gaal has worked with players from all over the world during his long career, but if it is true, it’s probably not good news for Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valenica, Marcos Rojo or any other players from ‘Latin countries’ looking to rock up to Old Trafford.
