Another Louis van Gaal press conference, another Luke Shaw recovery update.
There’s a sense that the young left-back is nearing a comeback from the leg break he suffered last September, but although his Manchester United manager delivered another positive update on Friday, we’re still no closer to discovering the exact date.
Speaking ahead of United’s game with Leicester City on Sunday, Van Gaal indicated Shaw was “progressing well”.
“I cannot deny that so he’s training on the pitch but now he’s training with the physiotherapist and he has to train with the football coach and that still hasn’t happened.”
It had been suggested that Shaw may be back in time for the end of the season, with Van Gaal setting him a target of getting in the match squad for the FA Cup Final.
Although hopes of making that date may be slim, the signs are that Shaw will be ready for a full pre-season ahead of next year’s campaign.
It remains to be seen whether he’s played his last game under Van Gaal.
