Another bad result, and more injury woes for Louis van Gaal.

Matteo Darmian injured his shoulder when landing awkwardly in the first half of United’s defeat against Sunderland, and it now appears he’s set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Van Gaal confirmed after the game that the former Torino man has dislocated his shoulder, and is expected to be out for “several weeks”.Sunderland v Manchester United - Premier LeagueThe Dutchman expressed his disbelief at his side’s injury woes over the course of the season, with Darmian joining several other full-back options on the injury list.

“When you analyse the things that have happened to Manchester United his season, it’s unbelievable,” he said.

“Another full-back who is injured and we don’t have many full-backs left.”

Darmian, who has already missed several games through other injuries joins Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Guillermo Varela and Phil Jones on the injury list. Wingers Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, both of whom have filled in at full back, are also currently out of action through injury.
