Anthony Martial hardly needs any more pressure heaped on his young shoulders.
So he’s unlikely to be thanking Louis Saha for his latest comments on what level the young French striker could reach at Old Trafford.
Martial has grabbed 10 goals in his 35 appearances for the club so far this term, after a blistering start to his career against Liverpool.
Since then he has settled into an unfamiliar role on the left wing, but Saha feels that the sky is the limit when it comes to his talent.
The ex-Everton and Fulham striker told the International Business Times that the 20-year-old could very well emulate, if not better, the success enjoyed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I hope Martial can emulate what Ronaldo did at United.
“Ronaldo came when he was 18 and had this little issue where he was not passing the ball. He had to learn and that took him time.
“When he clicked in his head, with the help of the manager, he became an amazing player and I hope that Martial will go in the same path. Martial has got the ability, strength, he is skillful and he is hungry to learn.”
Saha also recognises that his comments comparing a raw talent to Ronaldo is a bit far-fetched, but hopes that the young striker learns from the Real Madrid ace.
“The difference when you compare any player to Ronaldo is that he was obsessed about his game. You know he doesn’t sleep without thinking about football and that quality is really hard to see in other players right now.”
