Simon Mignolet is not expected to lose his position yet as the club’s established first choice netminder, but Karius is following in some interesting footsteps by taking up the famous number one jersey.
Not since Jerzy Dudek has Liverpool had a player wear the number one jersey who has come anywhere close to being the first name on the team-sheet.
And when you see who has worn it for the Reds in the last 10 years, it’s no surprise.
Might be wise not to read TOO much into fact Karius has opted for the number 1 shirt. Last person to wear it was Brad Jones…

… and before Brad it was Diego Cavalieri…

… in fact, last person to wear Liverpool's number 1 who was actually Liverpool's number 1 was Jerzy Dudek in 2004/5. Up to you Loris…

Good luck, you may need it, despite your good looks.
