Liverpool fans are not best pleased with the Premier League Goal of the Season

We never thought we’d see the day that Liverpool fans would be defending Christian Benteke to the hilt.

But when he’s up against a Manchester United player, Benteke is definitely the much lesser of two evils in the minds of Reds supporters.

Benteke hasn’t done an awful lot since arriving at Anfield last summer from Aston Villa and his only stand-out moment came against bitter rivals United when he scored one of the goals of the season.

The big Belgian’s overhead kick was memorable to say the least but it only came in second place in the Premier League Goal of the Season standings, as Anthony Martial’s gorgeous finishing touch to a wonderful team move against Stoke was considered the best of the bunch.

Liverpool fans do not appreciate finishing lower than United and, though they may be used to it in the league, they were furious when Martial was preferred to Benteke here.
