Seán Maguire is absolutely brilliant.
He really is. Tonight he lined out up front for Cork City as they faced Dundalk away from home.
In case you didn’t know, Dundalk has won the last three League of Ireland titles as well as stringing together a memorable Europa League campaign.
On all three occasions, Cork has finished runner-up but they aren’t without their glory having snatched the 2016 FAI Cup late in extra time against Dundalk.
The goalscorer that day was a certain Sean Maguire.
He has been in superb form this year and his hat trick tonight means he will go to sleep as the league’s top scorer as Cork stay unbeaten and stretching their lead at the top of the table.
Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane were in the stands for the match despite Ireland’s game against Mexico finishing circa 3:30 am Irish time with the team playing all the way over in New Jersey.
No rest for the wicked. Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane make that famous journey from New York to Dundalk. #COYBIG pic.twitter.com/Sfd6ulmOc4

And with the pair in the attendance, there has been an outcry for Maguire to be called up to the squad.
How are the likes of David McGoldrick and Kevin Doyle in the Irish squad ahead of Sean Maguire? The fella is battering Dundalk on his own

If scoring a hat-trick against the champions right in front of O'Neill doesn't get Sean Maguire in that Ireland squad then nothing will.

Surely Sean Maguire deserves a call up after that performance Martin? #CorkCity #FAI #Ireland
