You’re not the only one dodging work today to cheer on the Boys in Green
While Euro 2016 fever has taken hold on this side of the pond, we doubt they’re as excited in Colorado for the Republic of Ireland’s opening game of the tournament against Sweden.
Kevin Doyle, who missed the cut for Martin O’Neill’s squad, is therefore due to report for training for Colorado Rapids at the time Ireland take the field in Paris – with kick-0ff at 5pm Irish time, 6pm in Paris and 10am in Colorado.
However, the Wexford man, who has been capped 62 times for Ireland, is determined not to miss the big game, and isn’t letting his disappointment at being cut from the squad hinder his support.
Doyle tweeted his club directly to tell them that he has been stricken down with the flu, and we wish him a speedy recovering from his ‘illness’.
A true patriot!
