Benzema could play for France at the World Cup final
Karim Benzema has played down reports that he may appear for France at the World Cup final on Sunday.
Benzema was forced to pull out of the France squad days before their opening game against Australia after suffering a thigh injury.
Despite flying home from Doha, Benzema is still officially registered as part of the squad, meaning that he could have technically featured at any point for Les Bleus.
The Real Madrid forward has recovered and following their semi final victory against Croatia there were rumours suggesting that the 34-year-old could be recalled to the squad to appear in the game against Argentina.
Although it was a genuine possibility, it seems like that won’t happen with the Daily Mail reporting on Saturday that Benzema was left incensed by Didier Deschamps’ decision to send him home after he picked up the injury.
But now Benzema has publicly given his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s game on Instagram. Posting a rather glum-looking selfie, the forward captioned it: “I’m not that interested.”

France are looking to become only the third team in history to win back-to-back World Cups but are coming up against an Argentina side determined to win the trophy for Lionel Messi in what is likely to be his last-ever appearance at a World Cup.
Deschamps does have some injury concerns with the French squad struggling with a virus in amongst the camp.
Kick off is at 3pm at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday in Doha.
