Nothing but class

It’s not hard to see why Jurgen Klopp is one of the most loved managers in the world.

We all know the charisma he brings to post-match interviews, the energy he gets out of his players and the infectious laugh that’s made it impossible for even rival supporters to dislike him.

And the Liverpool boss has outdone himself with a wonderfully touching letter that he penned to a woman whose husband suddenly died while on the way to watch Leicester play Liverpool at Anfield on St. Stephen’s Day.

Ian Midgely collapsed and suffered a suspected heart attack as he and his wife Denise made their way to the ground two months ago.

And in a letter obtained by the Liverpool Echo, Klopp’s words of kindness and encouragement to Denise show just how much of a class act he truly is.

“You’ll never walk alone.

“I am so sorry to be writing to you under these extremely sad circumstances on hearing that your husband Ian passed away while visiting Liverpool for the game on Boxing Day.

“At Liverpool Football Club, our fans are part of one big family and we understand that Ian was a huge Leicester City fan and the Leicester City family has tragically lost a truly loyal fan.

“On behalf of everyone at Liverpool Football Club, the directors, players and staff, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to you following the loss of Ian.

“Nothing that we say will recompense your loss but I extend my deepest sympathies and want you to know that all our thoughts are with you and your family.”
