Jurgen Klopp doesn’t panic as he names starting XI for FA Cup replay at Plymouth

Keeps the faith

Ten days ago, Jurgen Klopp selected the youngest Liverpool starting XI in history.

The inexperienced Reds failed to break the deadlock against Plymouth in the FA Cup that day but the German is not prepared to panic and field his first-choice side as he aims to put their third round opponents away at the second time of asking.

Not even a little bit!

And while Klopp has made a lot of supporters happy this evening by giving Philippe Coutinho his first start since November, the Liverpool manager has doubled down on his faith-in-youth philosophy by naming a largely unchanged side for the replay.

Daniel Sturridge comes in with Coutinho but, other than those two changes, it’s still a very baby-faced XI.

A number of teenagers will start at Home Park this evening, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Ovie Ejaria all featuring from the outset.

The youngest member of the XI is Ben Woodburn, the hugely promising 17-year-old who makes his second start for Liverpool tonight.

Klopp will be hoping for a lengthier spell in the competition this season as he could only bring the Reds to the fourth round of the FA Cup last season, when they were beaten in extra time of a replay with West Ham.

Plymouth Argyle, meanwhile line up like this.
