José Mourinho reportedly wants Manchester United to buy Mauro Icardi in January

If there's one thing that Manchester United need, it's definitely not more attackers, but that won't stop José Mourinho putting a bid in

Because what Manchester United need is more attackers

Manchester United’s season has not got off to the ideal start, and José Mourinho plans to amend that in the only way he knows how: spending more money.

While their squad is stacked full of attackers to the point that Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are forced to play bit part roles, and the defence looks more shaky and less confident than ever, they will reportedly look to sign another striker in January.

According to Olé magazine, José Mourinho wants to put a €110m bid for Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi on the table. Icardi is an out and out number 9, so would be competing for a place in the team with Romelu Lukaku, who cost United somewhere in the region of £80m in the summer of 2017.

Icardi has captained Inter for years, helping them regain their status as a Champions League club and has become the club’s talisman in the process.

The Argentine forward has had opportunities to leave Inter in the past, but turned them all down, due to his love for life in Milan and his adoration for the club that has overseen his development into one of the most lethal strikers in world football.

Taking all that into account, it’d probably be a waste of time to even submit a bid.
