We’ve been here before.
Jose Mourinho regularly complained about the fixture schedule while he was Chelsea manager, and it appears old habits die hard.
The new Manchester United is unhappy with the scheduling of the club’s fixture against his old team, set for October 23, according to The Times.
Mourinho is reportedly trying to change the date for the Sunday fixture at Stamford Bridge, because United have a Europa League game on the previous Thursday.
However, he’s unlikely to receive any favours from the Blues.
According to Matt Hughes:
“Mourinho regards his first return to Stamford Bridge since being sacked by the club for the second time last year as the most important match of United’s season at this stage and wants time to fully prepare his players.
“Chelsea are well aware of the seriousness with which Mourinho treats the fixture list and will not rush to do him any favours. Any postponement would require the consent of both clubs, which Chelsea would be unwilling to provide.”
Expect Jose to have more to say about this over the next month or so.
