Close, but no cigar.
He takes possession of the ball inside his own half and looks up to spot the goalkeeper off his line.
It’s ambitious, a real Hail Mary chance, but he throws caution to the wind and goes for it.
The ball flies through the air rapidly, but it feels like it’s travelling in slow-motion. Yeah, one of those moments.
The goalkeeper tracks back but can only watch the ball go sailing over his head and into the net. A wondergoal is scored.
That’s NOT what happened to Jonjo Shelvey on Saturday, it’s actually a description of Conan Byrne’s superb effort against Bohemians the other week.
Yep, that's the halfway line you're looking at https://t.co/G8da01ADb3

Shelvey came pretty damn close to emulating the St Patrick’s Athletic star though. About as close as one can come without succeeding.
During Newcastle United’s Championship clash against Sheffield Wednesday, Shelvey decided to go for glory.
He took possession in his own half, dinked it past an opposition player and absolutely walloped it towards Keiren Westwood’s goal.
Fortunately for the Irish shot-stopper, the ball rattled the crossbar and bounced away to safety.
