Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has apologised for a tweet sent from his account during a memorial service for the 60th anniversary of the Munich air disaster.
Lingard and his Manchester United teammates were in attendance at the service at Old Trafford on Tuesday where Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and club captain Michael Carrick laid wreaths after a minute’s silence at 3.04pm, the time of the crash, while at 3:07pm, a tweet from Lingard’s Twitter account was sent in response to a message about a game of FIFA.
Lingard took to Twitter on Tuesday to apologise for the tweet and said that the response was sent by a member of his media team.

“I was unaware as I was attending the service at the time, and don’t condone the post or the timing in anyway.
“The post has now been deleted, and I’d like to apologise for any upset caused, this is totally unacceptable and does not reflect my personality or views on this emotional day.”
Lingard’s teammate Paul Pogba – who was benched for the Huddersfield game – was photographed with his hood up and his hands in his pockets which triggered a backlash, with many people labeling his appearance as a lack of respect.
