Jeff Hendrick’s dominant performance against Watford earned him a lot of praise

Robert Redmond

Roy Keane said Jeff Hendrick needs to score more goals, and the Dubliner has delivered.

Hendrick scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland earlier this month against Serbia in a World Cup qualifier, and Keane was in attendance to witness the player score on his first start at home for Burnley.

Hendrick rose to head home against Watford on Monday night, scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor, helping Burnley secure their second win of the season.

The 24-year-old joined the club from Derby County on transfer deadline day for £10.5m, a club record fee, and his midfield partnership with Steven Defour has showed promising signs so far.

Hendrick’s performance drew praise on social media, and a pretty poor “Dad joke” from Gary Lineker.
