An overly ambitious Championship club has bid for Jeff Hendrick

Jeff Hendrick’s displays at Euro 2016 have reportedly garnered interest from a number of clubs, including Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Hull City and Turkish side Galatasaray.

Burnley had a derisory bid for the 24-year-old rejected over the weekend. The Premier League new boys submitted a £3m bid for Hendrick, a paltry sum for a player who impressed at Euro 2016, and for a club who are set to benefit from a record television deal.

However, at least Burnley could offer Premier League football if they offer the right price, unlike Fulham.

The London side, who finished 20th in the Championship last season, have put in a bid for Hendrick, according to The Sun on Sunday.

A couple of years ago, when Fulham were an established Premier League side, Hendrick moving to Craven Cottage would have made a lot of sense.

But one would imagine Hendrick will be aiming higher should he depart the midlands club.

There’s nothing wrong with having ambition, but Fulham should probably pursue other targets.
