What. A. Goal.
Jeff Hendrick has scored a goal of the season contender in Burnley’s Premier League game against Bournemouth.
The Irish midfielder, who joined the newly-promoted Premier League side from Derby County in a deal worth £10.5m in the summer, showed his class with a stunning piece of control, before letting fly from 30-yards.
Before going any further, we must state that we’re not permitted to use Premier League footage, but the images sum-up what was a truly special goal from Hendrick.
It came about following a long kick down the field from Burnley ‘keeper Tom Heaton…
Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake won the header, but the ball fell to Matthew Lowton…
Who played a pass through to Hendrick…
The pass was a bit high, forcing Hendrick to do an impression of Dennis Bergkamp and pluck it out of the air…
He got it under control…
Let fly…
And watched it hit the back of the net…
It might be the best goal by an Irish player in the Premier League since John O’Shea scored with a dinked finish against Arsenal in 2005.
Hendrick’s Irish teammate Stephen Ward would double Burnley’s lead a few minutes later, but, unsurprisingly, it was Hendrick’s stunning, dipping volley that had people talking.

Gary Lineker agreed the goal was a cracker, but disapproved of Alastair Campbell, Burnley fan and the British Labour party’s former press secretary, tweeting footage of it.
@Tomandthesquad different. Both great in their own way but you shouldn't really retweet these dodgy streams.
