Javier Hernandez missed the start of the Bundesliga season after falling down the stairs at home and injuring his right hand.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker was the latest player to suffer injury in somewhat innocuous circumstances, although not as bizarre as when Rio Ferdinand injured himself after leaving his leg resting on a coffee table for hours while watching TV. Or when Andy Carroll injured his ankle attempting to put on a shoe.
And definitely not as bizarre as when Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot scalded himself when inspecting some eggs he had poached in the microwave.

However, it turns out Hernandez’s injury is no laughing matter.
The former Manchester United striker posted a video message, containing an image of his injury, to his Instagram page, and his hand looks pretty gruesome.
Hernandez underwent surgery on his right hand on Friday, and says he will be back on the pitch in two weeks after his “domestic accident.”
