He’s come a long way in the last 12 months, but Jamie Vardy hasn’t forgotten the little guys.
The Premier League top scorer has risen to the top since joining Leicester from then non-league Fleetwood Town, and he still keeps in touch with some of his Cod Army team-mates.
“I like to look out for how my old teams are doing, and still keep in touch with some of the lads who were at Fleetwood when I was there,” the England striker said in an interview with the League 1 club’s website.
“As soon as we finish our games on a Saturday we get the scores up on the big screens and I always check for Fleetwood’s results.

Vardy is not the only striker to parlay a spell at Fleetwood into great notoriety.
David Ball, who arrived at Highbury Stadium shortly after Vardy departed for the East Midlands, is in contention for the FIFA Puskas Award for his stunning goal against Preston.
