Everton are on the look-out for a new manager after parting ways with Roberto Martinez on Thursday afternoon.
The Spaniard was spared the indignity of remaining a sitting duck for Everton’s final game of the season when they host the already relegated Norwich on Sunday.
Former Ajax manager Frank de Boer is the early favourite to replace Martinez, who lost the support of the Toffees supporters after a dire run of form which has seen them pick up just six points in their last 10 league games.
On the other side of town, however, things are looking a little bit brighter.
Having parted ways with Brendan Rodgers earlier in the season, Liverpool are enjoying the effects of a new manager in Jurgen Klopp.
The German has led the Reds to the Europa League final after seeing off the challenges of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, putting Champions League football within Liverpool’s reach once more.
And while Everton fans might not see the funny side of their current predicament, it’s not surprising to see an Anfield legend enjoying it somewhat.
After the news broke that Martinez would leave the club and the search for a new manager began, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher threw his hat into the ring.
Well, at least we think that’s what was happening as he offered to guide the Toffees to their first relegation in 66 years.
One punter was looking at 66/1 for Carra to step in.

The Liverpool legend refused to rule it out.
I'd love the opportunity to take you to the championship. https://t.co/TMO8Uo4Oue
