The whole of Ireland is still revelling in the news that, despite their best efforts, football will in fact not be coming home [again].
England were beaten by Spain in the Euro 2024 final to ensure their wait for a first major honour since 1966 goes on and there probably weren't many happier than James McClean in the build up.
Donning a Spanish jersey on his Instagram story, the former Republic of Ireland international received criticism from TalkSPORT in the build up to Sunday's game, branding him as "cocky".

McClean wasn't going to stay silent as soon as the TalkSPORT crowd chimed in and the Wrexham star quickly responded on his Instagram story again, saying: "Wouldn't say cocky, vamos now.
"Cocky would be saying for the past month on your show 'it's coming home', I'd say more confident.
"Adios and God bless."
It goes without saying that the 35-year-old had the last laugh as La Roja won 2-1 on the night.
Spain took the lead shortly after the restart through Nico Williams but like they have done in so many games in Germany, England levelled thanks to an excellent long-range finish from Cole Palmer.
Ultimately though it would be Luis de la Fuente's side who would go on to be crowned champions as Mikel Oyarzabal scored late on with four minutes remaining to break English hearts.
By winning the trophy, Spain became the first nation to win the competition four times.
