Jack Byrne will be on-loan at Blackburn Rovers next season.
The 20-year-old Irish midfielder will join the Championship side from Manchester City, after a positive loan spell in the Netherlands with Cambuur, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Dutch side were relegated from the Eredivisie, but Byrne scored four goals in 27 games and impressed during his first spell in senior football.
Byrne has represented Ireland at every level from U-16 to U-21. He was also called up to train with the senior team last March, but didn’t feature. Now that he’s playing in the Championship, Byrne should be firmly in contention for a place in Martin O’Neill’s squad.
The Dubliner is a technically gifted player, who’s aggressive style should be well suited to the Championship. Byrne also showed his eye for a goal last season.
