Italian World Cup legend lined up as new Leeds United manager

Mamma Mia

Kevin McGillicuddy

We’re sorry, but Steve Evans just cannot compete with one of the coolest men in world football.

God love the poor Leeds United manager but when it comes to looking good, and having a team play with style, we’ll back his possible successor over the incumbent.

The Championship strugglers are a club that appear to be about two bad results away from a crisis at any one time.

Evans took over in October and has steadied the ship somewhat after the sacking of Uwe Rosler, but considering they are miles off a play-off spot in 13th at the moment, owner Massimo Cellino is now looking to dump the Englishman for an Italian football legend.

According to The Daily Mail, Fabio Cannavaro is being linked with a move to Elland Road this summer.

The former Italian World Cup-winning captain from 2006 was most recently in charge of managing Al-Nassr but left the Saudi Arabian side in February while he also previously managed in China.

Cannavaro has been linked with the Italian job this summer as a replacement for Antonio Conte, but Cellino is hopeful he can persuade the former defender of the delights of life in Yorkshire.
