It wasn’t the best of days for Jamie Vardy.
Leicester City lost 4-1 to a Wayne Rooney-less Manchester United, with the Premier League champions conceding all four goals in a dismal first half. Vardy came off at half-time, with his replacement Demarai Gray scoring a wonderful albeit consolation effort in the second period.
As for the 29-year-old marksman’s individual performance, he was left largely frustrated by Eric Bailly and captain Chris Smalling in the centre of United’s defence. The England man was also riled by some of the officiating by referee Mike Dean, who gave his continued protestations short shrift.
Things came to head when Dean punished Vardy once again before the break. It was then that the player roared something extremely rude looking in the official’s direction.
The number nine may not be the most popular of players amongst rival fans, but many will echo his sentiments on Saturday lunchtime. We’re no lip readers – and we have to stress this is guesswork – but it looked suspiciously like Vardy shouted:
“What was I supposed to do, ya fucking bald c*nt?”
We’ll let you judge for yourself…
