The final squad has been named.
Martin O’Neill has finalised the Republic of Ireland’s squad for the upcoming Uefa Nations League fixtures in Dublin.
Ireland will play games against Denmark on Saturday and Wales next Tuesday in two matches that will decide their fate in the new tournament.
Last week, O’Neill named a 32-man provisional squad for the matches. He has cut six players from that selection.
Harry Arter returns.
Harry Arter returned to the fold after asking to be omitted from the squad in September following an argument with Roy Keane back in May before Ireland’s friendlies against France and the United States.
Arter retains his place in the final squad named on Tuesday morning in Dublin. James McClean has also returned. The Stoke City winger was forced to withdraw from the Ireland squad ahead of the 4-1 defeat to Wales in Cardiff at the start of September with a wrist injury. He has since played twice for his club and will be involved against Wales and Denmark.
Six players cut from the provisional squad.
Richie Towell, Alan Judge, Daryl Horgan, Graham Burke, Greg Cunningham and Ronan Curtis have all been cut from the provisional squad.
Ireland regulars Seamus Coleman, Stephen Ward and Jon Walters all miss out through injury.
