It’s fair to say that Everton fans were the only people as heartbroken as Ireland fans when Seamus Coleman’s leg was broken by Neil Taylor a few weeks back in a World Cup qualifier against Wales.
The Toffees are missing their first-choice right-back from Killybegs as he recovers from the double-leg fracture, and they showed their class today when they unfurled a tribute to the Ireland captain in the stands of Goodison Park.
A blue banner with the message “Stay strong, Seamus” emblazoned across it will surely give the young man a lot of heart as he begins his long road back to full fitness.
Everton went on to beat Leicester in a thrilling 4-2 that saw teenager Tom Davies open the scoring after just 30 seconds.
