Manchester United’s search for a proven Premier League goalscorer has seen the club linked with Southampton frontman Graziano Pellè.
The Italian scored 18 goals in his first season on the south coast and has already reached double figures for club and country combined this time around.
Pellè scored twice against United when the sides met in September, and the Daily Telegraph report that Louis van Gaal is interested in moving for the 30-year-old.
United have already been linked with the player’s Southampton team-mate Sadio Mané, but Pellè may be keen to remain at Southampton to ensure regular first-team football as he looks to lock down a place in Italy’s Euro 2016 squad.
Pellé has scored 10 times in 19 outings for the Saints this season. He has four goals in eight appearances for Italy.
He cost the club £8m when he signed from Feyenoord. During his two seasons in The Netherlands, the striker scored 50 goals in 57 outings.
