Who says referee’s can’t enjoy their jobs?
They spent most of their time being verbally abused by the crowd and players moan and groan if an official doesn’t award a decision their way. If they’re professional refs, making it to the pinnacle of their profession, they’ve to then sit though people Robbie Savage highlighting their apparent incompetence, without a hint of irony.
Why can’t they have a brief moment of job satisfaction? Well, this MLS ref seems to have.
Sorin Stoica looked very smug when sending off Columbus Crew player Federico Higuain for dissent at the weekend, during their 2-1 loss to New York Red Bulls.
The player was unhappy with a call the ref made, picked up the ball and punched it away. And the ref seized his chance to do what it looks like he’d wanted to do all game.
He definitely enjoyed that.
