Van Gaal set to splash the cash...again

Kevin McGillicuddy

As if Louis Van Gaal hasn’t spent enough already, it looks like the Old Trafford board will sanction more money to be spent on overhauling the Manchester United squad.

SportsJOE would love to know if Louis Van Gaal is as generous with his own money as he seems to be with the yankee dollars of the Glazers at Old Trafford. That’s because it looks like United’s spending could be about to reach £350million in two years if the club sign all the players they’re linked with this morning.

Kevin Strootman of Roma and long-term target Mats Hummel from Borussia Dortmund are both close to signing for LVG while its also reported that Aymeric Laporte of Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin and Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne could all be brought in under Van Gaal. Arsenal are another club that expect to be busy in the coming weeks and Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his defence by raiding Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town.

Tyrone Mings has been outstanding for the Tractor Boys and Wenger might have to part with £8million to get his man.

Wenger is also looking to get a player who won’t break down injured every five minutes(Ramsey and Wilshire we’re looking at you) and he feels that Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin could be the man for the job.

Liverpool and Tottenham have also been sniffing around the midfielder but it’s believed he’s got his heart set on working with Wenger at the Emirates for a cool £15million.(The Telegraph/Daily Express)

Norwich City v Southampton - Premier League

Eden Hazard is one of the classiest players in the Premier League and it’s no surprise that he’s being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge to some of Europe’s big spenders.

The Belgian is admired by PSG while Carlo Ancelotti is also looking to add him to his roster at Real Madrid.

However, Jose Mourinho is unlikely to let one of his star players go and Chelsea are willing to offer him a huge money contract to extend his stay in West London.(Daily Express)

Chelsea v Queens Park Rangers - Premier League

Alan Pardew is desperate to add to his thin Newcastle United squad in January but he could soon be without one of his top performers.

Moussa Sissoko is being linked with a move south to London and Arsenal could be his destination.

The 25 year old midfielder is understood to be anxious to play in Europe and Pardew will be hoping that he is at least able to hold onto the Frenchman until the summer (Daily Mail)

Newcastle United v Queens Park Rangers - Premier League

Real Madrid are set to pip Manchester United to the signing of highly rated Brazilian Luca Silva.

The Cruzeiro midfielder, who we’re told is similar to a South American Cesc Fabregas, was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer but is now set to move to La Liga to join the European Cup holders. (Daily Star)
