A defensive target for several Premier League clubs looks set to turn down a move to England and Liverpool to splash the cash on Real Madrid striker

Anfield is preparing for life after Steven Gerrard in the not too distant future and they think his successor plays with Aston Villa.

No, it’s not Gabriel Agbonlahor but Fabien Delph.

The 25-year old has been of the better players for Villa this season but whether he could fill the non-slip shoes of the iconic number 8 at Anfield remains to be seen.

According to today’s Daily Mirror Liverpool are set to make a move for the midfielder who is out of contract in the summer.

Chelsea v Aston Villa - Premier League

Bad news for various Premier League sides who were hoping to sign the very classy centre-half Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United over the last number of months since an impressive showing in the World Cup and was hotly tipped to leave La Liga.

However in this morning’s Daily Star it seems that he doesn’t fancy a life in England after all and will snub a move to the Premier League.

Boo.

Getafe CF v Club Atletico de Madrid - La Liga

Who remembers the ‘new Zidane? Ah yes, Bruno Cheyrou, who was more like Zig and Zag on the pitch than the French genuis.

Well Arsenal are in the hunt for the ‘new Patrick Viera’ and think they may have found him.

According to the Evening Standard Arsene Wenger is looking to snap up Polish teenager Krystian Bielik for around €3million

It’s understood he was in London over the last few days to finalise a deal to join the Gunners.

No pressure then.

Bielik

And in the maddest transfer news this morning Liverpool are being linked with French striker Karim Benzema.

The Reds are desperate for someting to kick-start their season and feel the Frenchman could be temped to the Premier League with a big money move in January according to the Daily Express

The ‘transfer commitee’ would have to sanction £50million secure the move but there’s no doubt that the France international would add a bit of za-za zoom to the misfiring attack
