It looks like Francesco Totti’s AS Roma career could be nearing its end.

The Serie A icon has been dropped by Roma boss Luciano Spalletti for their Sunday evening clash against Palermo. This happened less than 24 hours after TG1 published quotes from Totti in which he complained about the lack of game time he was getting at the club.

Totti told the publication that he could no longer remain at the club if Spalletti continued not to play him and claimed he deserved more respect considering the 23 years of loyal service he’s given to Roma.

“I can’t stay at Roma like this. It hurts to be on the bench. I understand at my age that I play less, but ending my career like this is bad for me as a man and what I’ve given to Roma. I demand more respect for all I’ve done here.”

When quizzed abou his relationship with his boss, Totti gave a snarky response.

“What is my rapport like with Spalletti? We say ‘good morning’ and ‘good evening.’ That’s it. He said such nice things in the papers, but not to my face.”
