Former Rangers player Arnold Peralta shot dead in Honduras

Honduran international footballer Arnold Peralta has been shot and killed while on holiday in his hometown of La Ceiba.

The motive for the shooting, which took place in a shopping centre car park, is unclear.

Peralta was 26 and had been playing for Scottish club Rangers at the start of the year.

He represented his country at the London Olympic Games in 2012 but missed the World Cup in Brazil two years later through injury.

The BBC report that no arrests have been made but added that Peralta had been found with his belongings – ruling out robbery as a motive.

The Central American nation of Honduras has one of the highest murder rates in the world and is well known as having problems with gang violence.
