Every in-form striker can credit their surge to something, but Ryan Leonard might be the first to give a nod to Justin Bieber.
After beginning listening to the former child star, Leonard fired home three goals in four games for Southend United in League 1 – more than he managed in 42 league outings last season.
“Since we started playing Justin Bieber I’ve starting scoring again.” Leonard told the Essex Echo.
The 23-year-old added that he and a group of team-mates are “Addicted to Justin Bieber’s new song,” and Leonard even tried to mimic the Canadian’s moves when celebrating a goal against Sheffield United.
Bieber himself acknowledged the contribution, prompting some of Leonard’s Southend team-mates to chip in…
